TGIF

The New York Public Library
Photo by myself in front of the main branch of the New York Public Library at 42nd Street and 5th Avenue.

Daffodils are blooming in the giant urns outside this striking landmark, even though the weather is currently chilly.

TGIF everyone. What a long week.

Tonight I worked late, my first late-ish night. I hate panicking at the last minute, and all this is the mere attempt to panic early and avert certain disaster.

I'm no spring chicken, though and long hours are hard on my body. What's worse is that I have a couple young uns near me, who work quite hard. They work late each night and come in late in the mornings. It's like they've formed a team to make feel extremely old and has-beenish.

So as a result of the late-ish night, I have nothing really to say. I leave you with the above photo, which is the glimmer of a shred of hope that Spring is here. At last!

Spring would be nice wouldn't it? WE have had a very cold early spring and I am hoping we have turned the corner. Today was very warm. As for feeling old... at work think "wise" instead of old and has-beenish. Working long hours doesn't necessarily mean quality work.
Love your photos.

We've been coming close to a warm day, but not quite getting there!
I like the shot - the colors of the flowers really are nice against the grey stone all around them.

A classic look. I like your photo today.

I am not up to normal yet, so am only trying to pop in here and there. As I get better I will try to get back on schedule.

Awww, you've got spring already! I miss spring. I miss the warm air and the sight of spring flowers. Lucky you :-)

And you are not old! Not, not, not!
Your colleagues probably don't have a life besides work and they will burn themselves out.
Besides, they don't take as good pictures as you do. They are probably not as nice either.

Don't be so hard on yourself. I think you are great! :-)

I know.....Spring is taking forever to get here. We still don't really have much green around here.

Great Pic!

Great building and nice picture! I think I've seen the New York Public Library in a movie. The Day After Tomorrow (2004) ?

question surement stupide, mais tant pis, cela veux dire quoi "TGIF" ?

Probably a stupid question, but never mind, that mean what "TGIF"?

Hi, Kitty!

Part of the reason those young 'uns work so long is their inexperience... some are still learning, so things take longer, and some think extra hours equal higher productivity, when you probably bang out projects far faster due to your experience than they could at this point in their careers!

Given the diligence and conscientiousness about your profession that shines through your blog, your knowledge is hard-won and well-earned.

wow, everyone is up so EARLY!!

Hi Catz
I think once Spring is actually here, you will see quite a bit of gallivanting. Clothes will come off.
I like the 'wise' substitution!

Hi Nikon
Thanks! The flowers soften up the facade. Without them it's quite severe and formal.

Hi Mr Lincoln
I'm glad you're a bit better! Some of these flus going around are deadly. It's tough on the body. Rest up!

Hi Eva
I don't know how these kids do it. I used to be that way and can't anymore, which is probably a good thing.
Thanks for the kind words!

Hi Barber Bunch
I'm wondering whether it's global warming? I hope this isn't a trend!

Hi Fredrik
Thank you! I didn't see that movie, but it makes sense. The building is pretty big and is cinematic.

Hi Olivier
TGIF = Thank goodness it's Friday! lol. I'm SURE there is an equivalent en francais!

Hi Spandrel
I guess. I also think that since I'm new, I can distance myself from what's going on. Haven't yet been sucked in and overloaded, thank goodness.
Thank you though.

All the positive affirmation from you readers is extremely appreciated from this old chicken. It brightens my day!

Hi Kitty,
I spent many lunch hours in the mid 1980s sitting on those steps.

Like you, I find that I can't compete with the young uns cos' I need my sleep.

If I pull an all nighter, I will have to make up for it tomorrow by going to bed early.

Hello Sonia
Thanks and have a great weekend as well!

Hi Chewy
It's a cool spot. Much great people watching to be had. Lucky you!

Hi Tammy
how funny. I'm sorry you feel that way as well.
Have a restful weekend, friend!

Hi Ming
I cannot imagine an all nighter at this point.
I can't tell whether it's psychological or purely physical. All I knows is I'm bushed!
