Patrolling the Streets

NYPD Horse and Rider

A policeman kindly posed for me with his spunky ride.

We've had some gorgeous weather here in New York - cool nights, low humidity, sunshine.

If you're like me, you're in disbelief that it's September already. What the $#*&!! happened??!!

This coming weekend is Labor Day weekend, which marks the end of summer and the beginning of the school year.

Hi Kitty.

Nice horse. In the last picture it seems to be smiling.

It is so strange for me to think that your school year is beginning now, since our school year began in march. But considering the seasons, after the summer is the right time to begin.

Our winter is fading (hope Influenza A too), spring is knocking our doors.

Definitely agree with the utter shock of it already being September somehow. And yes...that horse is smiling and, perhaps, had the intention of gobbling off a head or two.

I am loving the weather we are having at the moment, I think it's the best week we've had all year, but like you I am thinking "September....what...how???" :-)

I think I saw this horse and cop Tuesday in Times Square. Hard to say since B/W but cop looks same. Can you tell me if the horse was reddish brown? There was something about him that has haunted me since. His name was Russell and he was alone w/cop (usually I see horses in pairs in NYC)and he seemed irritated and unhappy - in fact I asked his age bc I thought maybe that was it. He was 15. Later that night I saw him again with 2 other horses and he very intentionally bashed his head into the horse's head next to him hard enough that you heard it. I now think I get why they were riding alone earlier. I hope he retires him soon. I always stop and pet them in my neighborhood (Village) and they never seem unhappy like this guy did. I think he is over NYC.
