It's Chilly in Midtown and Prospect Park

Cold, in Midtown
Photo by myself in Midtown, around 50th Street and Fifth Avenue.

This photo is ever so slightly 'soft', meaning it's not focused in the right place. I must have been focusing on the woman's hands rather than her face. (Argh!)

It was cold out that day and the foot traffic was moving quickly. My fingers were as chilled as hers.

Speaking of cold, here's a photo of Rupert from a walk in Prospect Park last weekend. (Pardon his boy parts hanging out. I have yet to knit him underpants)!

In the snow

Friends in the snow

This little dog dislikes the cold, unless he's all worked up, chasing a ball. We try to get him outside for exercise, otherwise he drives everyone insane.

Below, he hangs out with a friend. It is hard to believe that these animals are the same species. Unlike Rupert, the Newfoundland doesn't need a sweater.

Snowing in the City, Brrrrrrrr and Braving the Chill, in Bryant Park.

oh! loving little rupert in his snowsuit! he's grown into such a handsome young man :-)

and i like the focus on the woman's hands, as I think, givering the temperature and her pose, they *are* the focal point!

I hate it when that happens, but I think this is still a good photo. & The woman has nice hands too.
I love your photo of Rupert. He's a little heartbreaker.

as much as I always long for and dream about living in NYC - the lovely frozen hands photo is a good reality check for this California girl!!

Well I think it's an excellent photograph. Her hands must really be suffering in that cold, after al - and the softness of her face looks kind of .. ok, don't shoot me for this - but it reminds me of Michaelangelo's "Pieta". That kind of desperately sad, suffering look.

Photography is not about getting the right focus point. It's about capturing a feeling which you succeeded in.

I freeze with you. A very lifelike photo. B&W enforces this effect. Well done.

Awww Rupert looks as gorgeous as ever.

We have a puppy Newfoundland around here and he is already immense. Very beautiful though - such wonderfully thick fur.

This is now my all time favorite photo. If you scroll the pic slowly, Rupert looks like a super hero about to take off. The snow looks like clouds. I love the look on his face, as if he's about to save the world and only he can! Have a great week-end.
