Most of the headstones in the graveyard near Trinity Church are from the 1700's.
Many of the headstones are worn with age and are no longer legible. The cemetery is open to the public during daylight hours.
The one above reads, 'Here lies the Body of Mr. William Hamersley, Merchant who departed this Life August 3rd, 1752 aged 65 years.'

1752. ugh. They could never have imagined what would happe 50 yards away and 250 years in the future.
The FBP facade demolished, but the bar is still there...new front all ugly metal. But the sign is still up for now..
65 was probably a good old age for those days!
I've been in that cemetery on august: if you look around you'll find a tombstone with the expression "here LIVES" instead of the archaic "here LYES" or our "here LIES".
I don't know if it's been just a mistake, but it was strange to me.
We've been to this graveyard and it is amazing. Really peaceful and we have seen a lot of people having their lunch there.
