Night View, from Union Square

Union Square, NYC
Photo by myself in Union Square, around 14th Street and Broadway.

Tons of people were walking around and hanging out in Union Square, Monday night.

This is a major subway station, since several different lines intersect here, including express trains. Much of the open area is paved with asphalt pavers. There are landscaped areas too, a fountain and a dog run.

Some snobs claim to never venture north of 14th Street, for whatever reason. I'm not sure why!

A great night light shot, Kitty! It must be fun to stroll around that area!

I love your point about some snobs never venturing north of 14th Street, Kitty! New Yorkers can be so amusingly provincial in this regard. Because almost every neighborhood, particularly in Manhattan, has just about every service you need within a few block radius, going to another neighborhood is often seen as "such a schlep!" When I'm there, I love traveling up and down the island (and occasionally even into Brooklyn) to enjoy what each area has to offer. If I lived there, I'm sure I would also enjoy exploring all the boroughs, but on my short visits, it's hard to escape Manhattan's gravitational pull.
