Photo by myself in Washington Square Park.
A small crowd looked on as a youngster took on a very serious looking adult in a game of chess.
Another photographer was in the background. There are many chess tables at this park, all for free public use. All you have to do is bring yourself, some chess pieces and some patience!

It must be very serious as they even use a clock. Thanks for showing.
I like the serious way people are looking at the game.
I've got to get there to see this one of these days.
I used to spend lots of time in Washington Square Park watching chess legends come through and play. These guys are serious and a lot of hustling goes on around these parts. Skill is the only thing any of these guys pays attention to, as demonstrated in this joke:
In a park, people come across a man playing chess against a dog. They are astonished and say: “What a clever dog!” But the man protests: “No, no, he isn’t that clever. I’m leading by three games to one!”
