I Scream, You Scream

Park Slope ice cream
Photo by myself in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

There are a few Uncle Louie G's in Brooklyn, ice cream stands with a window out on the sidewalk. Each features a huge variety of ice cream, Italian ices, shakes and other treats.

Sunday, Mark and I took a nice long walk around our neighborhood, Park Slope.

It was a gorgeous summer day, cool and sunny, resembling mid-September more than August. The whole neighborhood seemed to be sauntering about too, enjoying the day.

We passed by organic vegetable stands, outdoor cafes and stoop sales. There were places serving Peruvian food, French food, falafel and ribs. Couples were out pushing baby carriages, or walking their dogs. Others walked about hand in hand, smiling into the sunshine.

Aww, it sounds like you had a wonderful day!

I love your picture today. I can't stop looking at the little boy. It's like he's thinking:
"Wow, you're tall. You'll need a huuuge ice cream, man!" *LOL*

Hey! I was there late Sat night. Had the mint chocolate chip. Delish!

Hi Eva
yeah, the kid makes the photo, I think, hehe.

Hi Kizz
welcome to Brooklyn, then! Hope you had a good time.

Mark and I love to saunter down and grab a cone. Sometimes the line goes down the street

"Louis" is VERY particular about ice cream.

He only likes TWO kinds:
1) Homemade
2) Storebought

I have only read about 5 blogs today and two of them have mentioned Uncle Louie G's ice cream! I don't like ice cream but I do love sunshine and you seem to be getting plenty of that. It is foul and horrid here - you'd need a decent umbrella and a vat of hot chocolate if you were wandering around London with mark!

Do you call pushchairs/prams "babycarriages" in the US? I had not realised that before.

Love the pic! What is it about America and ice cream? They're so associated to each other. Over here everybody screams for Ben & Jerry.

Wow, I'm really glad I stumbled on to your site. After reading about "Long Island Daily Photo" in a Newsday feature aticle, I've really gotten hooked on this idea of looking at a daily slice of life through the eyes of those who live it. Your visions of NYC are both creative and breathtaking. I've included a link to this site on my own blog: mortmaz.blogspot.com
Feel free to drop by and say Hi. In the meantime, keep up the great work...

Morty!

Louis, I love your taste in ice cream. When I was a little girl we lived in Beaulieu-sur-Mer and I have never forgotten the tast of the tutti frutti ice cream we bought at night down on the main street. And that was a long time ago.

Nice photograph. I like ice cream but not at these kinds of places. Not around here at least. LOL

Thanks for the welcome but I've lived here for about 17 years so I feel greedy taking it. :) I'm over in Clinton Hill these days but I lived on Union and Seventh for a couple of years back in the 90s, one of my favorite Brooklyn apartments. We didn't have Louie G's back then, though. Hell, we didn't have 5th Avenue back then, at least not a 5th Avenue you wanted to spend more than 5 seconds on.
