On The Sidewalk, Chinatown

On the Sidewalk, Chinatown
Photo by myself in Chinatown near the Manhattan Bridge.

A man listens to music while keeping an eye on pedestrian traffic.

I shot the above photo from the passenger seat of the car Saturday morning. Mark and I made a trip into the East Village for some errands and lunch.

The sidewalks were crowded with people. In the space of thirty minutes, I encountered two large tour groups around St. Mark's Place and Second Avenue.

I imagine things will settle down as the weather gets colder. Until then, we'll have learn how to share the sidewalks.

It is a nice-looking photo. I am glad Mark was driving. It certainly allowed you to take this thoughtful and inspirational photograph. I like it in black and white too. I am sure it will inspire others to take pictures from the passenger's seat. Nice work.

I love how he's just stopped, unapologetically, right smack in the middle of the sidewalk. Great capture!

A perfect shot of a day in the life. I like the mans expression and how he is so still and clear and the people walking by are a little blurry.

You know how much I love your b&w photos! It looks a little funny to see an older man with headphones on. ;o)

I do think this kind of street photography is your forte. The expression on his face is captures so well.

Excellent photo! There are so many stories just in this one frame. Well done!

Thanks everyone. It was pure luck - we spun round the corner, there he was and snap, it was done.

I recommend the passenger seat 'drive by' - you get sort of close to a scene with a different point of view, a little lower than normal standing height!

I like this picture. You can imagine a whole story just by looking at their expressions.
The woman looks so determined.

You have such a wonderful eye for street photography. I get too shy photographing people on the streets, although I do so many great scenes that I wish I took a photo of, but never quite have the guts to do it. It's not an easy branch of photography but you do it so well !!!
