Photo by myself in Greenwich Village at the Washington Mews, a tiny street just north of Washington Square Park.
A couple visitors came upon this street by accident. Behind a set of black gates is a cobblestone street and tiny, historic buildings. Many of the buildings are peoples' homes. The brick building ahead houses New York University's Institute of French Studies.

How charming this is. A lovely photograph.
We were just visiting a town recently where there were lots of brick buildings, and there's something about the look of them that I really respond to. Don't know what it is, the warmth of the color, maybe?
Love the arches and the windows in your photo - it must be lovely to walk up to this place every day!
Love the name - "mews." They just HAVE to be charming with a name like that.
when I used to live in the village I would often cut down this quiet street just to get a respite from the hustle & bustle- and to dream of how nice it would be to live in one of those places on this quiet block.
Nice capture.
Very casual and spontaneous capture. Great shot.
This is why I lo-oove reading your blog. You sort out those tiny little wonders that one can find in New York. If you know your way around. And you obviously do, gal;)
A beautiful photo and a charming find. I love that, for all the big city bustle of New York, there are quiet little spots like this. Another favorite of mine is the Cloisters up in Fort Tryon Park. It's so green and peaceful up there, you almost forget you're in Manhattan.
I bet that the stones claim a lot of ankles!
I was there this weekend. I took a bunch of photos there but none came out great or good enough to post here.
je me souviens de cet endroit, I REMEMBER!!
