Absolutely No World Cup, in Park Slope, Brooklyn

No World Cup, in Brooklyn
Photo by myself in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

A neighborhood bar advertises that you will find no World Cup coverage there.

Those who like to drink and wallow in peace can take comfort behind the Venetian blinds. To the right, a youngster wearing a New York Yankees jersey walked by. (Alex Rodriguez, aka. A-Rod, aka. Madonna's ex-beau, is third baseman and number 13 on the team).

The US is completely astonished to find our team among the final sixteen. The US team is scheduled to play Ghana, Saturday. I don't know much about our chances, but I am sure that legions of New Yorkers will be glued to their tv sets!

Oh, I just adore that. Here in the UK, there is a sudden flush of stupid little Flag of St George flags that you can fix to your car (though I have also seen them on motorbikes, mobility scooters and push-bikes.)

I thought I might make something of a killing NEXT World Cup, by producing and marketing little car flags that say "I couldn't give a stuff about the football!"

Hi Kitty,

That's a great photo!! Sorry about the US being knocked out yesterday. England fared even worse today, a completely dismal performance the Germans deserved their win. I have Germany in the office pool so I am keeping my fingers crossed that they beat Argentina in the next round ;-)

I would have went into that bar just based on the sign. So funny. And I think Lozzie Cap has a great idea with the sign for cars.
I live in England and am glad the world cup only happens every 4 years now. :D
