Sharing Sweet Dreams, on the Subway

Asleep Together
Photo by myself on the subway, in Brooklyn.

I'm not sure whether these two people knew each other or whether they were random strangers. They were certainly in the same frame of mind at the end of a long day.

The subway can be seen as an extension of the New York City apartment. People sleep there and entertain there, they put on their make up, read, eat, knit.

So if it seems like this blog shows lots of photos taken on the subway and subway platform, you know why. The subway plays a huge role in peoples' daily lives and is usually the fastest and most reliable way to get around the city.

tout le monde récupère dans le métro, je suis toujours impressionné de voir les gens se réveiller à la bonne station ;)

diving into your own world with your headphones on after a long day is just the best...the subway is a free space of individual universes....love the pic!

Thanks Betina, and welcome!

Hi Olivier
ha, yes, I'd never be able to sleep and wake up in time!

Hi Beatrice
True. there are many worlds going on. Remarkably with all those worlds, it's usually very quiet on the subway, too.

Thanks so much, Lily!
I'm not sure how many people would want to hang this on their wall? ha. But I'll consider it!

Hi NYC Style!
You're right. For some reason, the element of danger from way back when has stuck. The subway is not a bad place at all, and I've seen many a conversation struck between absolute strangers belonging to very different worlds. It's very cool.
