Photo by myself on 73rd Street and Broadway, on the Upper West Side.
Churches, synagogues, mosques and other houses of worship are located all over the city.
This illuminated sign hangs outside a Presbyterian Church on the Upper West Side. I was drawn to the neo-Gothic details.
Happy Friday, everyone!

All Lit Up, on the Upper West Side

If it wasn't for the cross could you tell it was a church when you walk by? In Downtown Detroit, when you walk down Washington Blvd you pass a building that is St Aloysius Catholic Church, but you'd never know it, it blends so well with the other buildings.
True, Marcia. Good point.
There is a bit going on at that intersection. Just across the street (out of frame to the right) is the Ansonia, a tremendously ornate baroque apartment building. People are much more apt to look at that than a lit sign.
Pedestrians also aren't accustomed to look for landmarks on sidestreets, which are typically residential.
Oh, yeah, very gothic. I had to take a double take.
