All Lit Up, Outside the Gershwin Hotel

The Gershwin, NYC
Photo by myself outside the Gershwin Hotel, at 27th Street and Fifth Avenue.

The Gershwin Hotel is an arty, reasonably priced small hotel north of the Flatiron District. The one-of-a-kind light fixtures are hard to miss, recalling the sculptural forms of the architect Antoni Gaudi.

The Gershwin is just steps away from the Empire State Building and the Museum of Sex. The Flatiron District and Madison Square Park are a few blocks south.

I didn't realize until now that the hotel is also considered a youth hostel. There are rooms with bunk beds where those traveling on a budget can split the cost of a room with others.

Note: This hotel has received mixed reviews. Please do some research before booking a room.

cet hôtel est très beau (extérieur et interieur) et puis a cote il y a le musée du sexe ;).
Je connais pas mon emploi du temps à NYC, mais si tu as des dates et heures que tu préfères, j'adapterais mon temps sur place.

Hi Olivier
Yes, the interior is quite nice, too. I'll have to pop in one of these days.

I used to go to the tiny bar that was inside. It has since been renovated.

ps: You must have tons of musician friends!

Thanks Gunn!

Thanks Foto!

Hi Luis
I agree. This facade is unforgettable!

Hi Lily
Ha, some of the comments from visitors who've stayed here focus on the steam pipes and how loud they are. So...yes...cozy!

Hi NYC Style
Oh boy. You and Mark have the same mindset. He is beyond tired of the winter. And here we are with February still to go.

It's due to be extremely cold for the next few days. Time to hibernate.
