Photo by myself in Bryant Park, in Midtown.
A riveting game of speed chess was played in the park the other day.
These fellows were playing with just five minutes on each of their clocks - as soon as one player's hand left a piece, his opponent would start making a move.
I would have asked more questions but I didn't want to waste any precious seconds of their time.

Nice one Kitty!
I wonder if anyone was playing speed chess during the earthquake?
Now all we have to worry about is Irene!
Wish I could sit outside too, but it is pouring rain here. About your question about the brick passage, I did some research. The brickwork is layed in a mould and afterwards the concrete is dropped down. There are copperwires between the pointing and the concrete.
Regards, Marianne
Be safe, Kitty. I hope the media and the mayor are overreacting and overpreparing for Irene, but make sure the pantry is stocked and fresh batteries are in the flashlight, then settle in and take care.
