On the IFC Center and Rain, Downtown

IFC, W4th
Photo by myself on Sixth Avenue around West 4th Street, in the Village.

The IFC Center in the Village specializes in independent and classic films. They play a ton of different movies every day.

There are several movie theaters around the city that also play indie and foreign films. Other movie places show normal big budget films. Usually you purchase tickets early and wait in line for a while before getting in. Fun.

Tickets at the IFC Center are $13 per adult. Prices are less expensive with a yearly membership.

It's been raining like mad here and is supposed to rain all week.

Sometimes I feel bad for those visiting that they have to deal with rain. However, my secret thought is that New York is at its most photogenic and romantic looking in rainy weather.

The pavements are wet and a little reflective, and you see all the lights reflected in the puddles and on the streets.

The bad thing is, everything and everyone moves slower in this weather. Subways run more slowly and the subway floors can be a bit disgusting.

thought that I should correct any misunderstanding I have inadvertently given you. The panasonic fx 70 now slightly updated comes with a Leica lens which is good as you know for the darker images although I still stick to low iso of 80.
I realise that changing cameras can be confusing but I also should have pointed out that the LX3 ( now superseded by the LX5) and the DMC FX70 are both Panasonic cameras with similar software a matter I think important in getting the best functionality out of the cameras. As yours have been Canon you may wish to stick with their functionality as you know it well. Either way "be decisive" and if you want to take a chance go for the FX70 or theLX5 you will not regret it.

Thank you Alistair!

You are completely right, that's the downside of getting any new gear, isn't it? That there is some down time where you can't get anything right. It's frustrating.

The thing is there is no perfect camera. You just learn how to get the best you can out of the camera you have. So sticking to one 'brand' makes total sense.

You have yet to start your own blog. I am waiting for it patiently!!

Great photo, Kitty!

I love to go to movies, but as I live in country (like a farmer) I have little opportunity to see films... I must to see films on video.
