Subway Jam Session

Subway players

Photo by myself in the subway at Penn Station.

A brass jazz group was jamming on Friday night, drawing a small crowd.

Typically when I need a second opinion about a photo, I ask Mark what he thinks.

Usually he'll say he likes one photo over the other, and usually I agree. We're lucky to have very similar taste.

Tonight we disagreed. I liked the photo above, and he liked the one below. What's your opinion?

Neither photo is very good in terms of color, and the chrome column is confusing against the metal instruments.

It was the content that drew me - three guys obviously enjoying themselves, sharing a moment together.

Well, I'm with you - I prefer the one on top because of the interaction between the musicians.

But how great that you usually agree on such things. Lucky you. It'll make life so much easier.

And I'm not just sucking up.

Thanks RB!
well, Mark and I have the same taste...but we don't agree about everything else in life, lol.

I guess the differences make life interesting?

Lol Wayne, thanks!

I like the above photo because the musicians seem like they are interacting with each other more.
But I also like how there is some confusion with all the shiny objects, That is how Penn Station really is, one big messy confusing place & you captured that element quite well I think.
even the color is like what the lighting is like down there.

I agree with you (and apparently everyone else), I prefer the top photo.

Posted together, they are fabulous!

The top one!!! It is so natural and it reveals the friendship among the musicians. I love this photo.

Top one. And you could work on that background and the chrome column in photoshop. You could darken it a bit or even blur it to look like your lens was wide open and the depth of field was narrow.
